The story behind Beautiful Basements Minnesota
How long has Beautiful Basements Minnesota been around?
Although the business name, Beautiful Basements Minnesota may be new, the founder and owner/operator, Chad Olson is not new to the business.
Chad originally started Cutting Edge Builders back in 1996, where the main focus of our work was building decks and porches in the warmer months, and finishing and remodeling basements during the winter/colder months.
Over the years, the business evolved to providing many more services, such as custom homes, additions, kitchens, baths, whole home remodels, as well as restaurants and other commercial projects.
If it had anything to do with construction, we pretty much did it!
Why the change after all of these years?
There are several reasons.
Most importantly is the desire to specialize and focus on one aspect of services for our clients. That being basements!
Whether yours is unfinished, or you are looking to make some changes or updates, we will assist you throughout the entire process.
Why basements?
I would say the thing that first comes to mind, is that after so many years of working in people's homes, the most enjoyable construction experiences I had was with basement finishing and remodeling.
These types of projects typically keep us out of the way and have very little impact on our clients everyday life. It’s definitely a different experience than tearing apart and remodeling a kitchen, bathroom, or on many occasions, large portions of people's living environment.
Yes, there may be some dust, a little noise at times, and some small interruptions. But for the most part, people stay excited during the build process because their everyday routine is rarely disturbed. And in the end, you find yourselves with a new, Beautiful Basement to enjoy!
Another reason, is that the scope of the work is typically not affected by the elements and changes in the weather. Working in climate controlled environments allow us to maintain the efficiency and quality that we expect on every project.

Since joining the construction industry in the spring of 1995, I have gained extensive experience working as a carpenter, designer, drafter, and project manager.
I have been self-employed for the majority of my construction career and have had the opportunity to learn a great deal and work with many talented individuals throughout the years.
As a highly skilled craftsman and designer, I believe it definitely gives me an edge when it comes to working with clients, vendors, and trades people throughout all stages of each project.
From conception to completion, I am committed to listening, communicating, and delivering a quality product and construction experience for our clients!
I was born and raised in Apple Valley, and have made Minnesota home for most of my life.
I have an adult son, who lives just outside of Baltimore, two fur babies, and enjoy a fun and adventurous life with my family and friends.
In my personal time, I enjoy traveling, live music, collecting sports cards and memorabilia, playing poker, carpentry projects, and spending time outdoors!

After graduating with a degree in business management, from a college in central Washington state, I served in the Army Reserve, including an eight-month deployment to Haiti. Upon returning, I began working for a Seattle-based construction company where I discovered my passion for construction and collaboration with homeowners.
While my career path has included corporate roles in sales, product procurement, team leadership, and project management, my experiences have consistently involved conceptions, organization, design, development, and a focus on customer satisfaction. I have brought these skills back to the construction industry and work directly with clients in my community and help make their ideas and visions a reality!
I was raised in the Seattle area and relocated to Apple Valley, Minnesota in 2007. Here, I have enjoyed raising my two children (now adults), building friendships, and spending time with my family and close-knit group of neighbors.
My fiancé Krysta, her two children, and I cherish our time together. We enjoy road trips, and have driven through most of the 48 states together. We make it a point to find new places to visit and always try to check out local landmarks, oddities, and geological destinations!
In my free time, I enjoy working on cars, trucks, and motorcycles, as well as woodworking and updating our own home.
